Who We Are  First Union Presbyterian Church as the people of God are called to live as a community of grace, in one catholic and apostolic Church with Christ as the head. As Presbyterians we stand with the Historic Confessional Church and affirm the Reformed tenets of the faith. We affirm the royal priesthood of all believers, who act to establish God's Kingdom on earth by building loving relationships, serving the needs of others, as healing the broken. First Union Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., the largest Presbyterian denomination and a member church of the Presbytery of South Louisiana. It is our Presbyterian heritage that gives shape to how we live together in a community of grace. This is how much God loved the world. He gave His Son, His one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to al the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger; telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in Him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust Him has long since been under death sentence without knowing it. And why? because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to Him. - John 3:16-18
 This is the reason God sent Jesus into the world. And when Jesus went to be with His Father in Heaven, the Holy Spirit came to walk with believers and today the Holy Spirit continues to walk with us, still bringing us the love of God.
I'm telling you these things whil I'm still living with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I'm leaving you well and whole. That's my parting gift to you. Peace. I don't leave you the way you're used to being left feeling abandoned, bereft. So don't be upset. Don't be distraught. - John 14:25-27
At First Union we believe believe that Jesus can and does make a difference. Through the person and work of Jesus people can come to know the love that God has for all of us; through the continuing work of the Holy Spirit people can begin to develop that ongoing relationship with God that will bring meaning and purpose to life.

We offer classes for all ages in order to study and discuss God's Word so we can learn how to be better disciples in and to the world (Childcare provided).
10:30 AM - WORSHIP
We gather in community to praise and give thanks to God for the grace made known in and through Jesus Christ. Childcare is provided during the Worship Service. JOIN US after Worship for FELLOWSHIP and refreshments. |
